Do not generalise the material

Do not treat all household paper as interchangeable toilet paper. The selected Waitrose kitchen-roll directions explicitly say not to flush kitchen towels. Facial tissues also should not be selected as a flushable substitute simply because they are white paper. Our product descriptions distinguish bathroom toilet tissue, facial tissue and kitchen towel rather than giving them one disposal instruction.

Read the kitchen-roll instruction

A buyer comparing packs may focus on sheet price and overlook what happens after use. The kitchen product’s intended task and no-flush instruction remain relevant even when its sheet count is convenient. No home disintegration or sewer-blockage experiment was performed here, and a photo of dry paper is not evidence of flush performance.

Keep wipes outside this comparison

Wet wipes are a separate product category. Water UK’s current Bin the Wipe guidance says to put used wet wipes in the bin. A toilet-tissue product page mentioning a companion hygiene wipe is not permission to flush that wipe. We do not transfer a wipe claim, logo or older certification to these dry-paper selections.

Use the appropriate local waste route

Check the current package and your water company’s guidance when uncertain, and use the appropriate bin route for tissues and kitchen towel. Keep disposal separate from recycling claims about the cardboard core or outer film. A package can contain parts with different routes; calling the whole thing paper does not make all of it flushable or recyclable.
